Steve Jones is a native of Baltimore. Steve grew up playing team sports in his youth, high school and college. His father loved the game of golf, and suggested to Steve that at some point it’s going to be difficult to find 19 other people to play with. Golf was a perfect solution to this problem.
Steve’s career as an Assistant Golf Professional began working for a Golf Management Firm (Fairway Group/Semi Private Facilities) at Liberty Golf Park, Patuxent Greens CC & Marlborough CC. Steve dove right into golf operations, merchandising and instruction. Steve averaged over 200 lessons annually, from junior golf, individuals, and groups.
Wanting to expand his experience and knowledge he joined Hillendale CC, under the guidance of Allen Wronowski (Past President of PGA). Steve further enhanced his tournament management, merchandising and teaching skills and developed a very strong junior program which produced numerous club champions.
As Steve continued to develop his skills in private club management he was named the Head Professional and eventually Director of Golf at Hayfields Country Club. Steve was the 8th hired staff member (new club under construction), implementing the entire golf operations from the ground up.
